Ithaca College Theatre
Previews December 6, 2011 Opens December 8, 2011 Closes December 11, 2011
Welcome to the ineffable and ephemeral world of dance! As Albert Einstein said, "Imagination is more important than knowledge." Let your imagination lead you, let go of the need to know, and allow movement and music to move your mind, heart, and spirit. What is the meaning of a sunset? What is a forest saying? What does love look like?
The four pieces of music you will hear in this performance are original compositions created for this concert. Each choreographed movement is unique and has been discovered and rediscovered each night in rehearsal.

The Melodramatics Theatre Company, Inc.
Based on La bohè me, an opera by Giacomo Puccini, RENT is a rock musical that chronicles the story of struggling young artists in Bohemian Alphabet City from 1989-1990. Mark Cohen, a struggling Jewish documentary filmmaker, narrates the musical. The story focuses on Mark's exploration and documentation of poverty, homosexuality, drug addiction, and HIV/AIDS - issues prevalent amongst his friends: Roger, Mark's roommate and an HIV positive struggling musician; Mimi, Roger's love interest - a club dancer and drug addict; Tom Collins, a homosexual man with AIDS who aspires to open his own restaurant in Santa Fe; Angel, a street percussionist drag queen; Maureen, an activist and performance artist; and Joanne, Maureen's well-educated lawyer girlfriend. Benny joins the list of characters as the rich, sell-out landlord - one of the many trials the team faces in their daily lives.
